Right. I implemented the Cyprus for FM10 and FM11 and now it's time again for me to enter the editor.
For the last two years I've been slowly trying to implement the Cypriot amateur leagues and hopefully soon that will finally be possible with enough research. For now however I'm just looking to do the top four leagues as usual.
I'm going to completely start from scratch opposed to importing last year's file. This is to avoid any issues with incompatibility and to get rid of the increasing number of failed or redundant changes. This does however mean that the amount of time it will take to do the basics will be greatly increased, and the need for thorough testing is much increased. Fingers crossed that all will come good in time though.
Quite a few clubs and competitions will need to be recreated, and there thus may be some inaccuracies or inconsistencies with past files.
I have a busy couple of weeks ahead, but I'll do my best to do the work asap. Sadly the editor looks the same as last year, so yet again the league system won't be 100% accurate.
An update on the work so far:
Things that have been done/are in progress:
- Leagues from Marfin Laiki to D Katagoria have been created
- 9 point deduction added to APOP Pegeia (apparently they've been failing to pay player's wages)
- Missing clubs in C/D have been created - about 10 in total
- A few clubs have been created to allow basic relegation from D Katagoria - more will be added in future
- Basic prize money, fixture dates etc have been implemented. These will be tweaked/perfected during testing
- I'm in the process of adding basic history to all competitions, with winners (where available) at the very least added to the DB. This is very time consuming..
Among things to do:
- Add awards
- Add media sources
- Add individual club league finishes (where available). This is a new feature that will show up on the graph on the team 'overview' page. I probably won't go back too far, but just 10 years or so where I can to get a working chart.
- I'm going to adjust the 'supporter profile' for major teams
I hope to have something available for anyone wishing to test soon.
