If the Number 10 keeps receiving between lines, the opposition may change shape and play with a Defensive Midfielder to mark our Attacking Midfielder and the space they occupy;
This can work in the attacking teams favour as a number of overloads are now created in the central area when the Wide Midfielders move inside. The Attacking Midfielder (Blue 10) may look to occupy the oppositions Defensive Midfielder (Red 4), creating space for other attacking players to exploit and combine, as Blue 10 looks to become involved in the 3rd phase and receive from the Forward (Blue 9) or Wide Midfielders (Blue 7 and 11) through clever movement.
